This photographic art gallery is the result of Karl’s many photography field trips throughout Victoria, capturing on camera the remnants of a lifestyle that our pioneering families experienced in the early 1900’s.

Our early settlers heritage - Victoria

Karl Sietins

The images in the gallery depict the harsh conditions that our pioneering families endured, in many instances ultimately driving them off their land, leaving their farm houses to the elements.

On return trips, Karl has noted that these fragile period farm cottages and houses have vanished from the landscape, many succumbing to the ravages of storms, bush fires and drought conditions. Today it is sad to say that in many instances vandals have accelerated the destruction of these historic places.
